I'm fairly new still, and have been flying and training Gallente initially. Drones are fun, and I've flown a Vexor, Myrmidon, and Dominix now, but keep wondering the same thing:
Should I fit my highs with only one or two rails (for aggro at distance) and the rest blasters, or all rails?
I commonly find myself in the situation where ships will close in and orbit much closer than my rails can hit. I could abandon some low slots to improve tracking, but not sure that's going to help enough to be worth losing some of the armor tanking / cap recharge.
Instead, I could switch to blasters and continue damaging ships that close that fast (IE: Damsel In Distress Lvl 4, the battleships close and orbit closer than 6km).
Also, I hear the "way to go" is autocannons ... I'm planning on training those once I'm a little more solid on more of the core stuff, so this will eventually be moot, I suppose. |

Derath Ellecon wrote:As far as Damsel LVL4, I stop warp and then warp my Domi at 75km. Then just blast everything out of the sky with sentries. Nothing gets within 20km and they die fast that way.
Curious /how/ to do this. I've heard others say similar things, and I'm training up T2 sentries, so it's an appealing idea.
But the only option I see on warp is "warp to location" ... how do you warp to 75km /away/ from the location? I could see warping in, placing a bookmark, then warping out, then warping to the bookmark, but not if there's nothing to place the bookmark on, and that's a lot of warping and may mess with spawn times as well.
So ... 'splain please? :) |

Just open your bookmarks and click generate bookmark, it can even be done in warp to create safespots.
I know I can make a bookmark where my ship /is/, but the question is how to make a bookmark somewhere else. Derath said he would "warp my Domi at 75km". The warp-in point to many missions is sub-25km with no structures out 50km further away. So how would one warp in further away than the warp-in beacon ...
Especially on something like Damsel where it's in a pocket, and bookmarks (I think) don't work there.
I've heard other people talking about warping in to missions further away than the original beacon, which would be great for a sniper ship, but don't see how it can be done. |

Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't recall seeing /any/ mission that's let me select the range I want to warp in to ... especially in a pocket.
I'll keep my eyes open, though.

Derath Ellecon wrote:For some missions this works
First initiate warp to the location. The stop your ship before you actually start warping. Then you will get the option to warp at a distance of your choosing
Got it. I'll give that a shot.
But this will only work on non-gated warps, I would think.
Anyway, good tip! |

/That/, I had no idea of. Good piece of info! |
